Accelerators for GFRC

Concrete accelerators are added to glass fibre reinforced concrete because they accelerate the setting time, meaning the cure time is also accelerated. The rate of hydration of cement and the rate of early strength are increased. This is particularly useful because it allows concrete to be placed in winter with a reduced risk of frost damage. Common accelerator salts include aluminium and sodium. Typical accelerators include calcium nitrite, aluminium trihydrate, aluminium sulfate, sodium thiocyanate and sodium thiosulfate.
