Calcium Gluconate
Calcium gluconate is a white or yellow crystalline powder. It is most commonly used in medicine but has uses in construction similar to sodium gluconate. It is stable over a wide variety of temperatures, compatible with oxidizers and has an exceptionally low sulphate concentration. It is used in cement admixture as a set extender (retarding agent), resulting in increased cement workability and strength. It can also be used as a corrosion & scale inhibitor in oil & gas well drilling fluids. It can be used as a metalworking fluid additive to inhibit rust and as an industrial cleaner for metal and glass surfaces. In liquid fertiliser systems, sodium gluconate enhances the complexing mechanism of various agents such as lignosulfonates and amino acids.
