Melamine Formaldehyde Sulfonate (MFS)
Sulfonated melamine formaldehyde (SMF) is a polymer used in cements and plaster based formulations to reduce water content, while increasing the fluidity and the workability of the mix. In concretes, addition of SMF in an appropriate mix design results in lower porosity, higher mechanical strength, and an improved resistance to aggressive environments.
Bisley is able to supply SMF in spray dried form ( solid concentration above 94%) for use in drymix mortars and cement as well as gypsum compounds. SMF powder is mainly used as a superplasticizer or high range water reducer. SMF is an additive as a plasticiser with retarding, accelerating or air entrainment effect.
Bisley also supplies SMF in a liquid form. This is typically directly used in unarmoured, reinforced and presstressed concrete, gypsum flooring and other applications where gypsum is used.
Melamine Sulfonate is used in plasterboard as a dispersant/ wetting agent / flow agent, in admixture as a water reducer/ plasticiser and in drymix as a water reducer / superplasticier.
