Colloidal Silicas

The Colloidal Silica range from Bisley International is available in a multitude of solids %, pH and other controllable variables offering flexibility to the user creating dust free, highly impermeable systems as well as enhanced coefficient of friction.

Silica is a high-performing nanoingredient used across a wide range of industrial sectors. More commonly known as silicon dioxide (SiO2), Geo40 colloidal silica is derived from a sustainable geothermal process, offering a distinct advantage over traditional synthetic methods. While synthetic production relies on energy-intensive chemical reactions and industrial precursors, this geothermal approach harnesses naturally occurring silica from geothermal fluids. This method not only reduces chemical usage and energy consumption but also repurposes a natural byproduct of geothermal energy production, resulting in a product with a significantly lower environmental footprint.

Fast reacting nano particles penetrate concrete floors reducing permeability without discoloring, causing efflorescence or inducing ASR. Compatible with low lime decorative overlay products, and self-levelling flooring offering improved abrasion resistance, color vibrancy, durability and sheen when formulating densifiers, finishing aids and cleaners.

Silica is entrained within geothermal brine – the mineral-rich subterranean fluid present beneath the earth’s crust. In order to recover other valuable minerals from geothermal brine, the silica must be removed first. So, silica recovery was a natural first step for Geo40’s sustainable mineral recovery journey.
